Cant think of a better way to drum up support for a ban. Unless of course you take out a few birds on the way! I guess there is no accounting for brains. Big jumps though.

I have mixed feelings about it. Most of me couldn't care less.
The other part of me agrees with you guys about it being a bad example.
What's funny to me is what some admire in our culture. I personally have tons more admiration for teachers and single moms for what they do day in and out (for others) than what 2 guys do for 2 seconds (for their own glory).

Yeah, a few of us have talked about jumping over the Matanzas Inlet bridge - not that we would ever try it of course - but now that seems pretty insignificant. Funny how you could see that at the peak of their jump they looked down and saw they might not make it, and sent the kite so they could get more distance. Then they landed with so much speed that both of them wiped out. All I can say is they are fortunate that they made it, and did not pull a Dimitri. (oops)

I was over in Germany for work all of last week, and flew back through London to visit my dad for 2 days.... Decided to head to the beach to check out the kiteboarding scene... I found this pier and those guys are 100% nuts to jump that thing. The thing is as high as the st. aug or jax pier, but is at least twice as wide and has 10 to 15 ft flag poles scattered throughout the pier. My only attempt at jumping a pier, is in the attached picture below... oh yeah...it is freakin cold in England!

I was very impressed when I saw that, I would never have the balls to try it but I wish I did. I dont see it as being a bad example, that's kinda dumb what extreme sport is ment to be a good example? We do things like that because we want the rush and the thrill.
They are BA and cant believe they both made it haha

If the wind blows, it is our god appointed duty to BOOST! Do your part and jump something cool. Be sure to tape it though.

Did anyone watch the Eddie Aikau Memorial Surf Contest at Waimea Bay yesterday? Those guys are basically jumping off 40-50 foot waves that are crashing down on their heads. Sure, those guys jumped over a pier, but it was blowing 40 knots and I am sure they jumped a few times before hand upwind of the pier to make sure they could make it. It wasn't even close, as they made it by a HUGE margin. Those guys at Waimea were on their tippy toes every drop and barely making it, and they are the most experienced big wave surfers in the world. Let's see someone on a kite try to jump over one of those waves! That would be impressive.

In face I hung out with Top Hat in Mexico a few years back and he was telling stories of kiting waves that size on the outer reefs outside of Backyards and being at the top of the wave with the kite below him pulling him down the face in side-sideoff wind conditions. I would like to see some footage of that! Supposedly someone came out to Jaws the other day wanting to kite it while the boys were towing and Laird said "NO." Denied.

Those guys at the bay the other day get every bit of my respect. Towing in is one thing but paddling in is hard core. Clyde Aikau at 60 years old was just a bad ass for being in the line up and picking off a few

I agree with TNTKiteboarder. I am not that much proficient that I can comment on someones skills but still by watching this I can say that these tricks are really good. I loved them. (me) (me)
