Post subject: New Instructor to the Area

Hello,

I have just moved from the Cayman Islands to the Tarpon Springs area. I have been kiteboarding for approximately 5 years and have recently completed my IKO Instructors level 1. I am extremely excited with the possibility of teaching in Florida. I believe my 10 years as a scuba diving instructor and boat captain will play a big part of my safety orientated courses.

I am very interested in any information you may be able to provide regarding teaching in the area or any potential employment opportunities.

I will be based out of Tarpon Springs for the time being but frequently travel to all the main kiteboarding locations. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or information. I look forward to your reply.

Regards,

David

Hey David. Are you friends with Paul Fox? I know that he has been talking about a crew of kiters down in the Cayman Islands. I don't know how happy you are going to be with the wind over there in Tarpon Springs after enjoying the Caribbean tradewinds! This time of year there can be some strong gusty west or northwest winds over on the gulf coast, but sometimes too strong to teach. I've seen it gusting over 40 there after a strong cold front. Actually looks like it's going to be decent kiting over there Friday and Saturday!

There are lots of opportunities for teaching here in Florida. Kiteboarding is just starting to get popular here, and there are lots of people interested. It's mainly a matter of getting people's schedules to match with the wind! Depending on the season, it can be consistent 4-5 days a week or 2 days a month. And it depends on the year as well. El Nino years have completely different wind conditions from La Nina years.

Let us know if you need any help or referrals for lessons. I do the website here at Extreme Kites so I will help you however I can.

Thanks,

Eddie Toy
