Post subject: VILANO March 2nd 20-28
PostPosted: Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:22 pm
I got out of class early so I cruised over to Vilano at about 3:15. With my meter I was reading about 20-28 WSW. The tide wasn’t supposed to turn until 4:20 or so. I launched my 12 anyway just to see if I could stay upwind. I ended up being able to go anywhere I wanted. I was able to get to the sand bars parallel to the bridge and work on some tricks. Mark and I rode till dark. Why does everyone give up on west winds?

We had a great time at Huguenot Thursday in west winds of 15 to 25mph running down the beach in 6" to 4' of water. Warm--sunny-- white sand--smooth water with very small waves. What more could one want?

Everyone doesn't give up on West winds.... most guys are working during the week!!!! I did sneak out for an hour session at Matanzas on the ocean side. Same winds, same tide running in...lots of sand bars...pretty darn fun. I was the only one there

I rode out on the ocean side here at ponce that day. The tide was really far out. It was like riding at the luecate slick. I was ready to drop the bar and walk it in if anything went wrong. Def not for someone learning but it was a blast for galle and I. It was about waist deep out around 100feet. I was riding the 13m HIR unzipped. The tide here at ponce was rippin to hard to overcome it. It was good on the smyra side also were the current pulls in a different direction that our side.
