Hi all,

Due to a little kiting incident about a month ago, I ended up with a broken tibia and fibula (oops) and two different types of surgeries with 2 different types of hardware installed in the leg. Gotta love it.. Dont know if I can kite again just yet but selling the quiver cause the doc said it will be at least a year before I should think about kiting again and I really dont want the birds sitting in the nest that long.

Waroo 17 m - Blue - Great condition - $575
Waroo 13 m - Blue - Excellent condition- $425
2009 Best Bar - lineset good - $200

They were always stored in their bags and they both come with a pump (pump) . They were also both purchased @ extreme kites. I am sure you see this is my first post on here but you can call Daryl at the shop, he knows me and the story. I will try to get some pics from them, but my second surgery just happened last tues and obviously still bed ridden. I will try to get around to that here shortly. Any questions please email @ jklompstra@gmail.com .

Honestly, I really wish I knew how it happened...

I'll equate it to a type of freak accident equivalent to you stepping of your front porch and snapping your leg. I was jumping, doing anything crazy, etc. I have been riding for just over 9 years and never thought something like this would break my leg.

Conditions:

wind NNE at 18 g22, seas 3-5 feet, I am 6'3" 225 lbs riding the 13 m waroo

I finished setting up, my kite bud launched me then he finished setting up. I was out on the water for only about minutes. The waves were REALLY steep face that day.... I was riding up a wave way out past the breakers and as I was about to crest a wave, my board grabbed really quick with what I am guessing was the top of the wave started to lip over the top (which either I didn't notice or happened faster than the norm cause of how steep the waves were) felt and heard the leg snap and I got slung shot out the top . I flew the kite straight up and looked down at my left leg and it was bent about 40-50 degrees out to the left. Really wish I had a helmet hd cam on that day, would have been a good youtube vid. ANYWAY, landed back in the rough water tried to kick the board off, came off the right leg obviously but had to reach down and pull my left leg up to get my left foot out. I then dragged myself back to the beach and yelled for help to a passerby to call 911. This is when the pain finally set in after I was back on dry land, and to top it off I couldnt just cut the kite loose cause there were a LOT of people on this section of the beach and they all started to gather around when they heard me yelling. It then turned from me yelling cause of the pain of getting picked up an inch in the gusts and dropped again to yelling at the people to stop trying to help me by grabbing the kite lines. Luckily, one of the little kids who saw me setting up also knew my bud was back setting up his gear so he ran and got him (I think this is the same kid who later found my board a ways down the beach and returned it.) and he came and got the kite from me.
Meat wagon shows up, hospital I go, surgery the next morning that didn't totally fix it, and 5 days in the hospital. At the 2 week mark me and the ortho decided to do a different type of surgery to help realign the leg because the break was actually found to be worse in surgery than what the first xrays showed. Second surgery was this past tuesday, only 3. days admitted this time. Back at home on the couch waiting to be off the pain killers so I can go back to work. This whole things started March 27th....

I feel your pain! Good luck with your healing and the therapy to follow. I broke an ankle 9 years ago kitsurfing. i found out that it does not take much to break a bone...and that sound!

I do not have any taken yet since I am still lazing around a lot. When I get home from work tomorrow I will try to get some help to get them rolled out and take pics.

As far as age, I want to say they were purchased around the end of march to beginning of april 2009.
