I have trawled through the forums and still cant seem to find info to help me in my decision, I am a beginner and buying a first kite. I am trying to make a decision between a 9m and 12m Flexifoil Ion (i dont even know if i can still get hold of a 12m as most places seem to be sold out!) I am 65kg (145LB) and have been recommended the Ion by various people at the beach for safety, depower and learning on.

What would people recommend for a beginner of my weight ??

Many thanks in advance

What wind speeds do you anticipate using it in?
Depending on board size, I think the 12m will be suitable in 14 to 25 knots.

We currently have 12 and 9m Ions in stock.

I guess it will be between 12 - 25mph probably. Would 30mph be way too much for a 12m kite for someone of my weight?

About your Ions - whats the deal with shipping to the UK?

For the 12m Ion at your size and being a relatively new rider, 25 would be pushing it, 30 might result in severe tea baggage

Still tho, at the wind ranges you mentioned, I would lean toward the 12m and use discretion 8)

Check your PM for some quotes on the kite and shipping :)

Scott

Skyway Scott has it right. At your weight and riding level, the 12m Ion is the kite for you. It will cover most of the conditions that you want to be learning in. Avoid the 30mph stuff at first, then ease into the higher wind on a smaller kite. Of course, the Ion stock bar allows you to shorten the lines by about 14 feet if you want to, so that might give you some more range if you are aiming for a one kite quiver.

Nick,

Now that it has the Ebone seal of approval, give me a PM or call to seal this deal. I quoted you a beauty.
