Flexifoil has an ad in the September issue of Kiteboarding announcing a new Atom 2007 kite. Does this kite replace the ION ?

Also, good article written by E Bone on the Bow vs Hybrid vs SLE :o

No! Everyone has to buy the magazine! LOL.

We'll see. Let me get a copy of the mag fist and see what ran...the editor probably removed the sections wherein I was bragging about my biceps and my mad skillz. Maybe I'll post the uncut version here so the techies will have a place to vent.

Good stuff. That was a couple years ago, I think.

Wouldn’t get your panties riled up because the ion came out post 2006 the last bow to release for 06. So I would imagine that this project is still very far from sight. The add says fall though. No pictures and no peaks at anything yet but I can only imagine. I predict a C kite with a splash of bow. No pulleys, no bridles, but if they separate the market into bow and C then I guess we just have to wait.

no the atom is not going to replace the ion but be an adition to the flexi line up ion2 atom and fusion2 for next year the atom will be a much lighter weight but with all the stregth of the ion and more economicaly priced kite with a slightly lower aspect than the ion2 very cool colors too
i just flew the atom 12 the other day and it was awsome.
more power /depower faster turning and unmached stability over the ion1 the kite has a much better lower end and flys remarkable well in light wind due to the lighter and more efficient frame
the atom has been put on a drastic diet to result in a ultra light durable kite barpresure has been reduced even more and turning is like a rallycar leaving a super light and responsive feel on the new bar
all and all the the new lighter and much cheeper Atom is a sweet new kite that will be great for beginers learning to fly thier first kite to the pros who demand the best proformace from thir jumping and waverideing machines.
looks like great year for flexi with three awsome kites coming off of the line

the atom is also a major inovation in hybrid kite design with the ability to be flown as a four line hybrid or a fithline beauty for super easy relaunch and unmached stability
not allowed to post photos at this time but you just wait and see
for this fall launch of the ATOM

This is the Flexi statement on the Atom:

[color=green]Born from the success of the Ion, the Atom is the new hybrid water kite from Flexifoil. We asked our customers and retailers
what they wanted from a kite that would satisfy first-time kitesurfers and would also suit riders making the transition from “Câ€

We received a 12m Atom (RASTA, baby) on Monday and a couple of 15m Atoms are on their way. We will be throwing them up in the sky to demo as soon as possible.

In hindsight, I wish I took the 12 Atom out last night :?
I didn't know it would hit solid 18 knots.

Anyone else flying the Atom? Any new reviews? It has been very quiet on the forum regarding the Atom. I'd like to see it compared to the HyperType.

Thanks.

Tony,

We JUST got several Atoms in today, including a couple 15m ones and some 12, 9 and 7m kites.

Jonathan and I have pestered Daryl to the point of actual annoyance for the last hour (its moderately difficult to annoy Daryl).
We hope to break him down and get the 15m kite out.... and SOON.
We currently have offshore winds

In regards to the 12m Atom or word on them in general.
We only had one until today (the 12m) It was probably one of the only ones in the country.

I rode it quite a bit. The thing is, I never had a day on it in more than 14 knots. Given the time I had on it and the wind conditions, it seemed to have a little better low end on it than the Ion, but not as much as the Hyper 12m. In terms of performance, I think the 12 really needs solid 15+ to start to shine, so I hate to always sound like I am putting off detailed reviews, but to a limited extent I am. We need better wind to be fair to the 12m kites. First impressions tho, if you liked the Ion, the Atom seems better in most respects.

The one weekend it blew solid 20 here, I had it in St. Pete when I went to visit there (st. pete is windless central in summer). My bad on that.

My largest curiosity (right now) is the low end capability and performance on the 15m. This is something we can nail down soon I hope, given our local winds.
