Hello all, I just had my first good day of wind this weekend after a month long rainy season. I took my new Crossbow 12 out for a spin. Everything worked fine except for an issue with the override ball not engaging. I read the manual and it said to keep the override ball disengaged until the kite was launched. I tried that but still no luck. Is anyone else having this problem? I went ahead and ran the kite without it but it would stall in certain situations if I wasn't paying attention. :?:

Now when I say it doesn't engage I mean that the red ball does not seem to fit over the black piece that would hold it in place.

Thanks for the help.

Not sure why the manual says to keep the ball disengaged?? If you are talking about the override ball, it should be fastened down when riding. When you need to go into "override mode," you push up against it, which releases the ball and your bar goes past it... this is the safety system which kills the power... I know lots of guys/gals had trouble getting it back on...it does fit back on there. It just requires some pressure and it will pop right back on there. My recommendation would be to keep it engaged when launching. If you are worried about something going wrong during your launch, just keep one hand on the quick release portion of your chicken loop, and release that if all goes to hell. There is a video and some more writeup on this at www.cabrinha.com

The manual just advised to keep the ball disengaged until the kite was launched. Then it advises to pull down on the ball to engage it before riding. I pull down on the ball with a lot of force but it never engages. There is a spare ball that came with the rig. I am going to give it a shot to see if it is any different.
