Over the years have own lots of kites.
My most recent quiver were a group of Flexi strikes, 17, 11, 9
rasta...of course
This past weekend I spent riding a 12m Flexi atom

As a added bonus I got hold of the rrd bi-directional surf ripper most amazing ride ever board.
(Some boards post - look for the one w/ the skull)

Fri was blowing mid 30's to low 20's NE
I took out the 12 ( most guys were on 9's, but this was the smallest kite I had) so I set it up for the first time. Wondering where one-pump has been all my life. I easily attached the lines, got a launch and hopped on the rrd bi-directional surf ripper most amazing ride ever board as I pushed the kite through the power zone.
Within a minute, I was converted.
Done!
The day continued with my skills & confidence growing in leaps and bounds...literally..
A bit about the kite.
It was intuitive.
Finally, a kite did what my body needed it to do to control the power.
I didn’t need to think about it, it just happened.
From the kite to my shoulders everything was one big rubber band, absorbing gusts in the high 30's, no problem.
Luckily I have long arms. The power strap is a bit far to reach, and I am 6'2. Other than that, the kite was flawless.
My first jump was higher and longer and more in control than anything I have ever thrown. ( and I may not be grace-full, but I like to go big)

One time the kite and I hit hard, and the kite blew a valve I guess the velcro wasn’t tight enough and the entire kite deflated (Note 2 self, close strut clips)
Close to shore, so no prob, re-inflate and go back out.
Another time I was getting over confident and got my ass handed to me in a big way. I pulled the safety system and whoooooo the power stopped instantly... That’s because the kite was flying away into the bushes.
(Note 2 self, clip leash to the center line ring. Go suicide and the kite flies away...bye bye.)
I nonchalantly wrestled my kite from the bushes, cleared the lines and went back out The kite didn’t have a scratch.
So my opinion humble as it may be is, with all the performance, the Flexi legendary, bomb proof construction and still less expensive than most other brands you would want to fly.
Why wouldn’t you buy this kite
Eventually the fun was over, no more energy...
As I was packing up one of the best sessions in a long time, I noticed I had cracked the rrd bi-directional surf ripper most amazing ride ever board (that’s another post) totally fixable. Yes, this board is as good as its name. This IS the future.

Saturday it blew 15-25, and I again spent the day with a perma grin on my face except the time I landed hot, and bit my tongue so hard I was spitting blood.
I was having toooooo much fun to care
The kite is soooo good.
So I rode a borrowed old slingshot board and was leaving a bloody drool trail in the water behind me, inviting sharks to join the fun.
And it was another amazing day
Believe the Hype...burn your c-kite

Danger,

That's the best review I have read in.... well, maybe ever (or at least since E-Bone's Ion review).
I was laughing my ass off while relating to every mistake made and every joy felt when dialed. Thanks for sharing :)

awesome 'non-techie' review danger! after speaking to you after your fist session i realized there were only two other times in the six years i've known you to sound so happy; one was when your son was born and two, was the day you got married. i can't wait to get enough wind to try my 9M Atom which i 'technically' bought for my wife! he! he!

let's hear a review on that rrd board! i think scott said it's called the 'Toxic Wave'...

Can anyone who has actually flown both kites compare the Hypertype in sizes 12 and 9 to the Atom 12 and 9, in terms of low end, flying speed, and turning speed.

Hisurf,

Hopefully I answered some questions on the phone.
