Hey I see that you are new to kiteboarding and not interested in taking lessons. It is very important that you take some kind of lesson unless you know someone that has been in the sport for a while and knows everything you need to ride safe and what to do when things go wrong. I have ran into a lot of ppl on the beach that want to start kiteboarding but refuse to pay the extra bucs to take a lesson. Truth is that those people that take lessons progress about 98% faster than those that dont. When something goes wrong out in the water it's nice to have all those safety tips you learn in a lesson, every person has there own story to tell. Well as for kite size it all depends on the wind and where you plan on riding so Call up Daryl at the shop, he will hook you up with everything you need and take a lesson from one of his buddies there awesome guys. Goodluck cya on the water.

back when some of us started, there were no lessons! the only guy around giving lessons could barely stay up wind and had nothing much to offer other than blowing up your kite and tyeing your lines on correctly. so it took --me anyway-- 6mos of hard knocks to get up on the board and go. take a lesson and you'll be on the board and having fun in two days. it's money well spent. this is one sport where nothing comes natural.

As per everyone else's comments...take a lesson! A full day of lessons with one of the instructors around here is like $350. That isn't cheap, but the cost of you destroying your brand new kite if you try to fly it without a lesson will cost more than that. Trash, bash and destroy the instructors equipment, not your own!

Check out the link "Lessons from the Hard Side" on the Extreem Kites home page. Or check out the magic unicorn at Matanzas for free lessons!

No lessons, no instructors, no idea.

I was learning on the pond, cold January day.
I went for a ride halfway through the campground.

Lastly, I deployed my leash, tripped over a flat laying telephone pole and dragged over florida green cactus.

Today I am glad I didnt hit any solid objects.

I suggest lessons my friend. Dont end up a telephone pole with an ass full of splinters. Get a lesson lined up from Daryl or Pat.

Ok bro check me out if you dont take a lesson and you try to do it yourself you are going to hurt yourself or somebody. all it takes is one person to mess it up for all of us and they ban kiteboarding in st .augustine you will not be liked once you get out of the hospital from the car you got yanked into you are going to have to deal with a whole bunch of pissed off kiteboarders that will probably break your other leg.. :x dont ruin it for everyone else just because you dont want to take lessons. we have all payed our dues some way or another learning to ride. take a lesson and start showing up when we ride we are all willing to help out but bro you need to take a lesson.... it will be the best thing you ever did 8)
