This being my first season in kiteboarding and having only kited during the summer months, should I look at getting a wet suit before heading down next week?

What do you guys usually ride in?

Thanks...

If you've got the cash to get one I'd bring one along. Last year it was cold enough that I had mine on by the second day. A 3/2 is usually perfect for the whole winter. You might want to get a neopreme beenie as most of the heat you lose goes out your head. I already bought gloves and booties for the nukin NEs but you most likely won't need all that til Dec.

Cool. Thanks Toast, ready to get down there... one more week. Really looking forward to learning how to improve my jumps and boosting ability. Having spent majority of my time in the pan handle's light wind, I'm ready to get back on the Atlantic side and ride.

Again, looking forward to meeting you guys, its tough in ATL, not knowing any riders to trek down with... Trying to convert a couple of my friends to ride but if it doesn't involve tail, they don't see the return on investment...

Balls of steal, TNT? WTF does that mean? That you have no ballz and thus had to steal some from The Bone? Or that you are going to steal a wetsuit?

I guess it's a great idea for me to insult everyone on the forum when I will have to deal with everyone in person in one week at Matanzas, but, what the hell.

I started with Sea and Sky (xlkites). Mike and Sarah were really cool. Worked a lot with Larry and Drew (their instructors) on okaloosa island this summer. I have a place over is Sugarbeach (AL side), a jump from Pensacola and went to Navarre? to ride in July. Really nice. I was hoping to get down this weekend but the higher wind forecast moved from Sunday to Monday so I'm out until next weekend.

Ill bring a 3/2 top just in case...

I don't get cold all that easy, maybe it's because I have a 4/3. I would recommend to error on getting too much insulation as opposed to possibly not enough. Then again though, I lack balls of steel.

You can always hop in the water and cool off, but if you're freezing, then what? I see alot of people get cold in the winter in "not so hot" wetsuits and then the fun factor drops. A good wetsuit is well worth the investment.

The Ocean Rodeo Beanie is one of the best winter time kiting, investments a rider can make.
Plus, they look kinda gansta'.
