I just finished a session at Ocean Trace with Brian. The wind was light, 11-13 mph and I was able to ride up wind on my Spleen Monster Door.
Big Deal you say? Well I weigh 240lb and was flying a 15M 2008 Waroo.
The board handles chop very well. I just sliced through it. It felt like I was on the inside slick at Matanzas.
Transitions took some getting used to. The large surface area creates a lot of surface tension. The board sort of sticks to the water. It takes some muscle to rotate this giant around. It's like riding a longboard on the waves. You have to think about what you want to do and then do it. Unless you have hockey players legs, then you might be able to snap this around like a 138 or smaller board. Your legs will get tired from pushing against this monster.
Later the wind picked up with gusts to 18. I had no problems holding and edge. I just leaned back, edged in, and went faster.

I can vouch for this, I was amazed when I saw him go out in 12mph and actually go upwind instead of just holding his ground. The board is huge but if you wanna ride in the light stuff this thing works, and works extremely well.
After seeing that I rigged up and went out on my Crazyfly Cruiser 145. We both had fun, best session in a long time for me. Relaxing and fun
