Hello all -
Its been an awesome trip. Winds have been extreme to say the least, I've been riding my 5m on 15meter lines every afternoon, with the depower half-pulled. Its been so windy, haven't even bothered to put my 7m in the car.
Scott's creek (reef break) cooperated a few days (photos courtesy of Wheatgrass (David Devries). Rest of the time spent riding Waddell Creek in waist to head high sandbar waves. Lots of fun, but wishing for more swell... Wind dies tomorrow, so we are off to drive Big Sur and then see a bit of San Fran before departing for home on Sun.
Abundant wildlife, wildflowers, and amazing views and weather at every turn. Almost ran over 2 grey whales on a long tack offshore, they were trekking north. Seals and sea lions have been abundant, always keeping me aware that the landlord (GWS) is nearby, though he hasn't shown up near the surface. Its kind of frightening to body-drag out past the waves, always the fear of a chomp when body dragging and looking like a slow-swimming or wounded seal. Sea birds and diving fowl have been just everywhere. The watch you approach and love to dive under just as you close in on them.
Hope some of these pics capture some of the raw beauty waiting just north of Santa Cruz. Our second year here, I'll be coming back, just an incredible place and lots of nice peeps everywhere.... Saludos, jd
