As you guys all know we are faced with access issues almost every where we go. For me it hits closest to home at Huguenot Park. As always the general population has no regard for the natural environment. People leave trash all over the place. This gives us an opportunity to shine. This weekend will be one of the worst all year. As we go to our favorite places to kite take 20 minutes before you set up your gear and pick up trash. Take a trash bag to the beach with you and try to fill it. Lots of us take 20 minutes just talking about which kite to rig or that new board that the store just got in. While you are chewing the fat walk your area with a bag and pick up trash. Make sure you are wearing a kiteboarding shirt or hat. After you clear the area or fill the bag place it where the local pick up guys can get to it. At the park near the rope line would be good. Everybody wins. We dont get greasy chicken bones on our kites or cuts from cans or glass, the beach is nicer for all and we get good PR for our efforts.

Yep, I had a perfect example of this one day as some of the local yocals were leaving to go home one day, and took their fast food bags and trash out of their car, set it down on the beach, and started to drive off. Of course I chased them down and basically said "WTF?"

But the best one was when Daryl saw someone throw some trash out the window of their car, followed them, and then proceeded to decorate their car with the trash, and some extra for added effect. That'll teach them! Some people just have no respect for the environment or other people around them. (oops)

Way to go Daryl!

I might say that you have to be careful about who's car you put trash on. At HP you might get shot! Still, we all need to say something to litterbugs. If we dont see who left the trash we need to just take the time to fill a trash bag. Make sure you are wearing a kitesurfing shirt.
