We got a couple of new stand up paddle boards from Surftech in last week that are noteworthy. I rode the 8'11" Lil' Darlin for a little while, and noticed that it was pretty small for someone over 200 pounds. So we got the 9'6" Surf Music by Gerry Lopez, which will be more stable, but still has that looser feel with 3 honeycomb fins.
The other one that came highly recommended was the Laird 10'6" by Pearson Arrow. It is more of a noserider shape with a scooped out wider nose for the longboarder moving into SUP. The pintail makes it perfect for waves of some size as well, and quite stable at 29 3/4" wide.
I am very interested to try the new Softop 10'6" x 31 1/2" x 5" thick. The volume is the same as our Starboard 12', but in a much smaller package. It should give a heavier guy the ability to move down into a more manueverable shape. And for lighter weight beginners it will provide added stability for learning.
