Codder is dead on about the 13m being a lot more performance oriented and being the better choice at our size. The 15 has more grunt, but at the cost of not being as fast, etc.
To add though, I have 2 friends on the 15m here.
One weighs 165 and is an intermediate rider who doesn't "love" being overpowered. He tells me he can easily hold down the 15m to 20 knots and I saw him on it one day in the low 20's when I was pretty litt on the 9m Waroo. So I know from seeing it the 15m can go 20 plus at our size without great strain or technique.
We also have a couple guys that have the 11m Waroo and no larger kites. One weighs about 170, the other 160. Both ride 2 boards (the guy at 170 has the large Skwywalker and a small Skywalker) and gets huge range out of the 11m 'roo. He starts at 10 knots on his larger SW and stays on the 11 until about 25, on the smaller SW. I ride with him all the time and see him do this. He is having a really good time in solid 13/14/15. A real good time. He is riding and not schlogging in solid 11.
Again, this is in no current. Gulf or flat though, in the low teens he is having fun.
I know in S.A. can have current and take away power, so just want to acknowledge that.
So, as Codder is saying, the 13 m should be fine on a reasonable board, especially in the 15-17 knot range, no probs at all.
