I've been riding for a few years and need boards. 210lbs, ride light air flat water, small lake chop less than 1', big lake chop 4'+ with nasty shorebreak (lake Erie) and I get to the beach a few times a year so I'd like a board that works in the surf. I like to cruise, get a few jumps in and I love powered up carvey turns.

Currently riding a crazyfly allround 145x41, it works great on the local lake, but I'm getting beat up on Erie. better technique maybe? also rode it at Matanzas, board kept trying to zip away from the wave. In light air I ride a homebuilt 170, concave, very shallow rocker and sharp rails. Kites are Vegas 12 and 16.

I think I need a board similar to the crazyfly, but maybe with a little more shape so it works well on Erie and in the ocean. Naish Haze maybe? I'm sure there are many choices.

I'm also interested in a light air directional that will make it easy for me to get my carve on. Maybe a big skimboard with real fins. Would be nice if it would work in surf for a kiter who doesn't know the first thing about riding in waves. Freestyle Fish? I demoed an underground freewave. Lotsa fun, but it didn't feel like it would double as a light air board. I don't recall what size it was.

Thanks,
Trip

Check out the Mako King board...I haven't ridden it, but want to give it a try...sounds like what you are looking for, for your lightwind carving type conditions....can be ridden as a mutant or directional.....

I'm in the 230-240 lb range (depending on how many chicken nuggets I've eaten on any given day)

I ride an underground 144 x 46 in the surf as my main board...winds 18 - 30mph. When the wind is light I hop on the Spleene monster door 64 and my 20M waroo. I am able to kite with the door and 20M in winds from 11 - 18. The door is not a carve machine, but surprisingly fun in the waves and takes chop very well.
